The 24 solar terms divide the Sun’s apparent annual path into intervals of 15 degrees of solar longitude.
What the source establishes#
The Hong Kong Observatory describes twelve major and twelve minor terms. Its table places the vernal equinox at 0 degrees, summer solstice at 90 degrees, autumnal equinox at 180 degrees and winter solstice at 270 degrees. Seasonal names reflect historical climatic and agricultural associations, rather than guaranteeing the weather at every destination.
A reading exercise#
For a particular year, consult a dated astronomical table and read its time-zone label. Keep the astronomical instant separate from a locally organized festival or opening schedule. A seasonal name alone cannot establish whether a location will have rain, snow, flowering trees or suitable conditions for a planned activity.
Scope and reference#
The exercise is editorial guidance, not an interview, personal field report or claim of scientific validation.
