The unity of knowing and acting is associated with the philosopher Wang Yangming.
A bounded introduction#
Wang lived from 1472 to 1529 and was a Neo-Confucian thinker. His doctrine addresses the relation between ethical knowledge and conduct, not simply a productivity technique.
A way to read critically#
Choose a concrete example of a claimed moral understanding and ask how conduct would express it. That is a reading exercise, not a measurement of the doctrine’s effect on income, exam scores or workplace performance.
