Go uses black and white stones placed on the intersections of a board.

The board#

A full-size board has 19 lines in each direction. Players alternate placing stones on empty intersections. A placed stone stays where it is unless it is captured and removed.

What to learn first#

Start with connected groups and the empty adjacent points that keep them from being captured. Ask your teacher or playing platform which rules and scoring convention it uses before counting a finished game.

A bounded introduction#

This is an introduction to play, not a claim about improved intelligence, business performance or a universal training effect. The federation’s historical legends and dated player statistics are not treated here as verified current facts.
