Shanghai’s Qibao heritage introduction describes several buildings with separate construction and restoration histories.

What the local reference establishes#

The city’s May 2025 account identifies Jieyuan Hall and discusses restoration in 2002, including replacement of damaged wooden elements. It explicitly presents competing accounts of the initial construction of East Holy Hall. Those details are more precise than treating every building as an unchanged structure of one age.

Planning your visit#

Choose a named building and check whether it is open to visitors. When reading a plaque, distinguish an initial foundation, later rebuilding and modern restoration. Some buildings described in a broad heritage article are on institutional premises; inclusion in the article does not itself authorize entry. Do not follow an old article as if it were a current admissions guide.

Scope#

The planning suggestions are editorial guidance. This page does not claim a personal visit, guaranteed admission, current ticket prices or fixed travel times. Check present arrangements with the named site or service provider.
