乌龙茶 is the Mandarin name for oolong tea.

wū lóng chá

The category and the product#

Oolong is among the categories named in UNESCO’s account of Chinese tea-making practices. The broad category does not specify one maker, growing area or flavour profile.

Questions for a tasting#

Ask for the full product name and its producer’s brewing guidance. Write down the leaf appearance, aroma and taste of the sample in front of you. Treat these as observations of that sample, rather than a ranking or a promise about every oolong.
