Visa requirements depend on your passport, travel purpose and itinerary. Check the Chinese consulate or visa centre responsible for your application before booking. Do not assume that an advertised visa-free arrangement covers your trip.

Apply using the correct instructions#

The Chinese Visa Application Service Center distinguishes tourism (L), commercial trade (M), exchanges and visits (F), long-term study (X1) and short-term study (X2). Use the category and document checklist applicable to your purpose.

Read your issued permission#

Entry validity, number of entries and permitted stay are different fields. Read the issued visa and your admission conditions rather than assuming a universal stay length. Fees and processing estimates must come from the centre handling your application; this guide does not quote a worldwide price or guarantee an approval date.
