Hunan approved separate conservation plans for Fenghuang’s Shawan and ancient-city historic districts in 2025.
Documented place and context#
The provincial approval identifies different boundaries for the two districts. It explicitly excludes the Tuojiang water surface from Shawan’s conservation area. These planning boundaries describe heritage management; they do not define one combined visitor ticket, a river-cruise entitlement or the age of every riverside building.
Planning your visit#
Use a named street, bridge or institution when arranging a meeting. Distinguish a street walk from entry to a house museum or a boat service. Read the operator’s actual booking terms for any purchased activity. A staged costume photograph is not evidence that every resident follows the same clothing practice or that a performance occurs daily.
