Guangji Bridge in Chaozhou underwent a major restoration completed in 2007.

Documented place and context#

Guangdong’s overseas Chinese affairs office describes work begun in 2003, retaining historic elements while restoring the bridge’s Ming-style appearance. A historic bridge can include old fabric and modern conservation work. Its current appearance should not be described as entirely untouched construction from the initial foundation.

Planning your visit#

Choose the bridge entrance and the part you intend to visit before arranging a meeting. Check the actual admission and access notice for your date. A photograph of the floating section or an evening display does not establish a fixed daily operating schedule. Distinguish the history of the crossing from the date of an individual pavilion or repaired component.
